Shorty Maniace has helped open and operate some of the nation’s leading barbershops and salons in New York City, San Francisco and Seattle. Now a San Francisco resident, he brought his unique style of barbering to a shop all his own. Introducing J.P. Kempt, a new barbershop experience in San Francisco.

“My vision is to raise the bar of barbering to a new level,” explains Maniace. “I want to give men the high quality of a salon haircut but in the comfortable and masculine environment of a barbershop.”

Dubbed the “Rock and Roll Barber” by VH1 and the Village Voice, and “one of the best barbers in the country” by Esquire and Best Life magazines, Shorty is considered a leading expert in men’s grooming.

Previous to opening J.P. Kempt, Shorty worked independently in San Francisco barbershops and learned what men in San Francisco want. He is excited to continue offering his unique style and talents in the Bay Area while creating a new experience for men.

J.P. Kempt  offers a team of the city’s best barbers providing high-quality and fashionable haircuts. The shop offers a warm, timeless and comfortable environment where men can enjoy a break from their daily grind. In addition to haircuts, the shop offers all the traditional barbershop services including straight-razor shaves, beard trims, buzz cuts and straight-razor shaving classes.

“San Francisco has a style all its own,” he says. “People are incredibly creative here and I love to help guys achieve the look they want—whether it’s a truly original or classic cut.”
